During a status review meeting for a project with a customer, you find that the customer is unhappy with the most recent project deliverable. After a detailed discussion, you realize that the customer's requirements changed after the project started, and now the specifications of the deliverables are not in tune with the current requirements of the customer.

Because you have been interacting with the customer for all project-related queries, you also discuss with the customer that these requirements seem to be new, but you will be responding to the customer. After reaching your office, you assess the impact of the changes. What should you do next?

You should now initiate a change request as per the agreed procedure at the beginning of the project. After this, the change control system will take effect and help resolve the situation.

You should not call a meeting of the project team and inform them about the situation. A meeting of the team will take place after the change control board approves the proposed change. At this meeting, you can discuss the change request with team members, explain the situation, and chart the further course for the project execution.

You should not initiate a meeting with the stakeholders for further discussion on the issue. The change control would trigger the meeting with the change control board or team as specified in the project change management plan. This team would include the project stakeholders.

You should inform the customer in writing that the requirements are out of agreed project scope. After you reach a suitable decision on the change request, a formal communication can be made regarding the change in requirements and how they will be addressed. The change control system will initiate a dialogue with the customer to discuss the implications of the changes on the project.
